PANTHERFEST is Today!!

Today is the day you’ve all been waiting for! PANTHERFEST starts tonight at 5 p.m. and goes till midnight. Dashboard goes on at 8 p.m., but get there early, the gates to the Amphitheater open at 6:30 p.m. We’re bringing you live coverage of the event starting this afternoon with the PANTHERFEST Liveblog. Brewers Tailgate Party!

After an exciting first day of class, what better way to celebrate than with the Milwaukee Brewers and UWM? Hosted by the Neighborhood Housing Office and COAST Leaders, the Brewers Tailgate Party will be held in the Union Rec Center on Wednesday night starting at 6:30 P.M. Coming off a hot streak against the Pittsburgh Pirates, join fellow UWM students watch the Brew Crew fight for the wildcard playoff spot against the St. Louis Cardinals. Meet Brewers fans, enjoy free “tailgate” food and drink, and more! The party starts at 6:30 P.M.; don’t forget your Brewers cap!

Panther Welcome Day

So I had a chance to stop by Panther Welcome Day today and it was amazing! Carla Cadet was on hand to talk about some upcoming programs with Union Sociocultural Programming and mentors from the First Year Center had their students out enjoying the free food and music. The featured act was UrbanSol, the group that will be performing for Lyrical Sanctuary this year. Check out the video after the break for a sneak peak. This Saturday I’ll be taking a journey on the Milwaukee river with the Adventure Center so watch out for that post.

Let the Move-In commence!

Hey There all you new freshmen and returning students!!!

Well, the time has finally arrived, thousands of you will be moving into the Residence Halls whether it is here at Sandburg (where the office I reside is located), RiverView, Purin, or Kenilworth Square Apartments.

At 7 am this morning move-in began and it hasn’t slowed down since. Nor will it. In the next 4 days University Housing will be assisting over 2,500 students move into the residence halls and become accustomed to their new surroundings. Be sure to check out the the CampusKickoff website www.campuskickoff.com for all events that are happening.

Don’t forget to check out your move in packet and go through the University Housing Handbook also there is a packet listing all of the events that are going on around all of the University Housing locations.

IMG_5721_2The Union Recreation Center will be hosting Cosmic Bowling on August 28th and 29th from 9PM-11:45 PM. Come enjoy 3 games of bowling for free on those days and only $1 every other Friday. Lanes fill up fast so get to the Union early to reserve yours! If bowling isn’t your forte take advantage of the Recreation Center’s pool tables, video games, and ping pong tables!

theatreFirst year students, current students and the general public should keep an eye out for any Union Theatre flicks that are being played during Campus KickOff.  The Union Theatre is the best place to watch movies that can satisfy the harsh movie critics.  Plus, this is the best place to enjoy movies for FREE without the inconvenience of purchasing tickets.  Be sure to end your nights with a trip to the Union Theatre!
